Question Help me identify this car



any help would be appreciated. im basically looking for the year, I know its a 356, but what model it is i am unsure of.

Looks like an A to me ('56-59). Check the Registry's spotter guide:

I believe it was as 59. I am trying to track down this exact car as a gift...

Dear BzzBee2,

My guess is 1958 or 1959 356A...car was made definitely before February 1959 as it has the low overrider tube (front bumper)...Porsche repalced the low for the high overrider by February 1959...I guess it's a Ruby red car (color # 5702)...I'm not really very good with the "A" cars...probably Robert and JoAnne will answer this thread with better info...

Thanks for all your help with this. This was my fathers old car when he was in college. We are trying to track it down for him... (retirement gift/project)

Know what the VIN is? It may be (relatively) current in the Registrys database

I dont know the vin yet. Im going to try to track it through the Michigan Secretary of state by using the license plate. hopefully i will be able to find a old registration for it which will have the VIN. and from there i can search by VIN. but before i did the search i wanted to make sure i was searching for the right model..

That's a great story. Good luck with it. There is a story just like yours in the 356registry magazine I got when I joined.
