I can't think of another group of people in the world with more disposable income than classic car collectors. I suggest that "we" get together and attend the next 356 Registry Board Meeting with a proposal to hire a web person, perhaps from RENNLIST, to straighten out the 356 Talk net and amortize the cost among the few of us that are willing to put up or shut up. I'm not rich, but am willing to put a bit in the pot. Sure we will get a bunch of crap from a certain number of oldies (been there, and now have broad shoulders), but I personally know of lots of "listers" that are 100% behind the idea. The list does not have to be scrapped, but it certainly can be catagorized/listed by subject with the ability to bypass the 15 messages about Togo Brown cabriolets, et al that keep coming up. What the hell is wrong with those people that keep beating the same dead horse? They must be sick in the head.

All - I've been working on things with the Reg website staff about moving my archive over, etc. Having architecture problems (I've developed on *nix, registry runs windows). Give it time....

Great to know that someone has been working on it. Thanks Steve!

Rob - the college I work at is a "Academic Alliance" with Microsoft... I can get license for just about everything for free. But I prefer to work with Free.

PLEASE! I love the info (most of the time) but shoveling through 150 emails a day is getting old.

The list is alive and sort of well. Today, June 13th there were a bunch of messages about "Rice Rockets," "Brits," and some other ramblings about non-356 subjects. And again, a bunch of bitching by and about some guy named Charles in Florida. ARGHHHH!!!!

Four days ago somehow we were "dropped" from the list. Something happened beyond the administrators control.Ii just had to re-subscribe. Maybe you should try that and see.

JoAnne: thanks for the tip; everything is fine now.

I fine the mailing list very helpful - I send in a question, and back comes a dozen answers, almost all of them correct. I bought books from the two guys who sell them, and they have been invaluable.

And don't worry about using Rennlist bandwidth to solve the issues with the 356 Registry mail list....

Glad I could be obliged to do so.

Maybe if Rennlist ever goes "offline" after almost 9+ years, they could extend to me the same courtesy.

Hey JoAnne!!!

Unfortuntunately, neither Jen nor I will be at parade. While I did the Parade Website here: http://www.pca.org/parade/2005/ and assisted with the Display for a while - I found out I couldn't "register" in time (even though I did the on-line registration for the site with Jim's back end at PCA). It was a frantic morning..

So - I just got my PCA Renewal, and I won't be renewing.

For that - you and Robert have an open invite to come to NH and visit Jen and I anytime, but, as I said - it won't be Parade....

My Best to you two always!!! And ANY AND ALL Porsche enthusiasts!!!!

John
(BTW: Rennlist??? It's a tiny website with about 250,000 folks a day who don't have to pay to play. Like the 356 Registry - it's about the cars and the enthusiasts....)

so you did all the work, and they wont throw you a bone because you didnt technically register in time?!? now thats what i call BS.

sorry to hear you got stuck to. fwiw, i didnt register in time either. Ill be going to mid ohio that weekend most likely, for the vintage races. then again, i might just decide to go to hershey to crash the party.. to see if i may be able to get in anyways.. lol.

my 2 cents.. its all about the people. any organization that doesnt realize that and doesnt recognize who make its happen is an organization i wouldnt want to belong to. places like rennlist, he 912 registry, the 356 registry, those are my types of groups. i dont think ill renew pca next year either John.
