Sharkey - Well, atthe time, the factory had all the equipment to make engines, were making engines, etc. Having a second line that required minimal modifications (and all of those saved money and brought performance to "reasonable" for that application) is essentially found money, so thats what they did. I'm just suprised VW didn't do it first/more/longer/etc.
