Does somebody ever tried to go racing Mille Miglia? Qualification is pretty tough. Car has to be 100% original and certified. Production Year has to fall between 1927 and 1957. Only following cars from Porsche are good for Mille:
356
356 A (coupé speedster)
356 Carrera e 1500 GS Carrera
550 A RS RSK
So, any information about real participation or application...
My friend and me are planning to restore pre-A or A model 356 and go to MM, is it realistic?

... a little nuts but yeah.
as far as reliabbility goes, they did it in they day, i dont see why one thats freshly rebuilt couldnt.
does this mean original engine? cause you could put a 912 engine in a 356 and no one would really know otherwise, and you would have the last (ie most advanced or what not) 356 engine type with 100 hp, compared to about 70hp in a pre a. if not.. you could do it but it would be awfully ****in slow. make sure the engine is rebuilt by skirmants, as he will build you a very reliable and meaty race engine

The MM i believe requires a car with Documented Race history or other "special intrest". and not all car's even with this criteria will be accepted - it normally is sold out
not for your average street to racer conversion.
my 2 cents

CupCar, You are right. This is very special and privileged event. There are about 700 applicants to 300 places. That makes it interesting for me....

Jack, you can do the carrera pan americana. you dont have to have a car with a "history" to enter. rjt993's outlaw was built for the sole purpose of running in this race.

Totally right - this is the race i am aiming at with the 58'
Hard driving - even in the "Tourist" classes
the MM would be great if i had a car that would qualify, but to get in it would really have to be special.

Just been informed that we have been accepted to participate in this years MM with a 1954 Austin Healey 100M. We have read about this, however, never done this and am wondering if anybody on this forum has ever participated and could perhaps answer a few simple questions. Thanks.
