Default Just bought my first 356

Here is a picture of my new 1957 356 Speedster 1600 normal. I have not taken delivery yet, but it is a done deal. It has the original engine and transmission. The only thing I need to do to it is get some seat belts!

Very Cool Jason!!!!
Looks like you found yourself a nice one. Are you picking it up or having it transported to its new home? I highly recommend Intercity. They brought my 65 Coupe to us from California. I used someone else when we bought our Boxster and there was damage because they just were not careful.
Congrats again!

Thanks guys!! I will have it transported. I have used Passport transport before and they did a fine job so I will talk to them and Intercity. I have heard a lot of good things about intercity too.

Jason.....Hopefully you won't trouble getting a transporter. Last year around this time EVERY car transporting company was booked taking cars to Barrett-Jackson auction. You might not have a problem since you are sort of on the way from East to West.
Good luck!

Good Job on the Speedster.
Yes, seat belts should be a priority.
You will be drilling near the 90 degree bend where the rear of the pan turns up. I'm not sure if the "A" factory workshop manual shows how to do this mod, but the "B/C" does for sure. I would try to follow the factory placement.
An ignorant person drilled the holes for my seatbelts in the bottom of the pan. I reinforced the area with some backing plates but I shudder to think how the pan will open up like a can of sardines if I crash.

It was done in the fifties so I'm cutting the PO some slack though.

Mine is 83595 what's yours?

Well, I guess I counted my chickens before they hatched! The deal fell through! Upon further review of the details I passed on the car. It is still for sale as far as I know. If anyone is interested the seller can be contacted at jnichol6@worldpath.net Feel free to PM me if anyone wants more info from me.

I guess I am still looking for a speedster!

Hey Jason and all...

Have you seen the $9,500.00 (Buy it Now) Replica Speedster on Ebay item# 2454694936?
It says it has a "dual (NEW) carb Porsche engine from an original Speedster."
Do you think we ought to ask him for the Engine serial number so I can check and see if it's really from an original Speedster? Because if it is, we are both willing to pay WAY too much for the Speedsters we are both looking at right now!

What a joke!!!
