Rear fog lights

Rear fog lights
I have a '62 T-6 B that was delivered in Paris under the Tourists Delivery program. A US car that was driven in Europe for about 6 weeks. The car seems to have had a rear fog light converted from the back-up light for driving in France. This was likely done by the French dealer.
I owned two cars (not Porsche's) during this time while stationed in Germany and each had to be equipped with a rear fog light for driving in Europe. At the time this was required in Germany and illegal in the US.
Does anyone have any information regarding rear fog lights on US cars delivered in Europe?

No info without digging into my books, but if rear fog lights were required, it stands to reason that they would have to be fitted on a Euro delivery if the car was going to driven in Europe before shipping off to the U.S.
