Default Info on Ignition Rotor designs, grenaded OEM

OK, I've installed my MSD Digital 6 plus and HVC coil, car was running quite well...for a little while...thought I detected the odor of burning rhynite, but all seemed OK nonetheless.

Well, then the car died and slept out overnight...went back with daylight and found the above. As several folks have told me, the stock ignition works around 6V except at startup when one of the ballast resistors is bypassed. While I'm running a much stronger system now with no ballast resistors and it fried the 5K (?) Ohm resistor in the rotor leading to failure. Happily no other damage and installing a spare rotor restored the car-- for now.

The techs at the ignition manufacturer claim that some of the Porsche rotors came without the embedded resistor- can anyone tell me whether or not thats the case? Would a Euro rotor suffice if I decide to suck it up and deal with the rev limiter?

Lots of reads- no thoughts?
Have rotors coming from a half-dozen different manufacturers, hopefully one or more will test with no resistor. Otherwise I guess I'll have to fabricate something...
