Are windscreens useful?

Stops the bugs hittin you slap in the face....
Oh! I think you meant Windstop.... Yes, Very useful. Can almost hold a conversation with it up to about 80mph... also stops the ladies hair getting too messed up...

Yes, worth having. Works well up to about 80 mph, then fairly well above 80 as things start to get a bit loud. You want the one that attaches to the roof frame / automatically folds above your head when the top is up. Make sure it comes with mounting hardware otherwise its a trip to the dealer for parts ($50 -60).

I have had windstops on my last three convertibles and consider them a "must have" item. They make top down driving more enjoyable, especially at high speed, and also extend the time seasonally that you can drive with the top down. Driving on a crisp winter day with the top down, the windstop up and heater on is a joyous experience!

It REALLY showed its worth on Friday night--my wife and I had a well-deserved "date night". After she did up her hair, we jumped in the Cab and hit the highway. With the windstop up, the side windows up, and the top down, she was lovin it. The hair was fine at the arrival.
For us guys, the windstop is nice simply to reduce the beating from the wind.

Should also add that there are two types
A generic "Tequipment" one that's not truly the right part.
The correct part number is 993-561-979-03DEZ
Trust me. The generic "tequipmment" one is junk. The right one folds up with the top properly. The junk one doesn't and does not fit right.

Go by the part number I gave above. That's the "real" 993 part.
The other one is a universal for 964's and 993's and to be honest is NOT the right (two part foldable thing that does not fit right - I should know. I made the mistake or ordering one once!). That's why I know the right part number.

I had one on my Saab convertible and it is invaluable; not only for cutting down on buffeting but also for prolonging how long you can keep putting the top down as the weather gets colder.
