Arrow 968 Tailight Question!!!!

I'm wanting to paint the 944's turn signals and taillights red.
BUT...How do you make the light still be yellow for turn and white for reverse?

It's actually a pretty trick design. The inside of each of those lenses is yellow/white/red as needed. The veneer on the outside is all red. I was scratching my head about it too, until I pulled one off to replace bulbs. It's a very trick little lense design that accomplishes this, all bulbs are clear.

the 968 has a very cool bit of optical technology in its lenses. From what I have heard (and am bout to experiment with) painting the 944 lenses with the testors paint results in a red light. The turn signals are just fine red, perfectly functional and legal. The reverse lights, to stay legal, will have to be left with atleast part as unobscured white or put in auxilary white backup lights. Someone recently posted pics of leaving a stripe at the bottom of the reverse light white, it looks quite nice and still legal IMHO. Probably what I will do once I experiment and see if the stripe emits enough white light to actually see where I am backing up.

yes.
but the 968 tailights have no whitie reverse lights. they just shine white.

so your saying if i painted the 'inside' of the taillight the color i want it to shine..and the outside red. It would work?

Here is the trick behind the lens. Very clever indeed.

ok. so I'm assuming the red cover was taken off that assembly.
so what we see is the bulb goes behind a (turn light) yellow lens with thin red stripes on it. the light shines through there and then shines through the red cover lens. producing yellow light through the red cover lens?

does the red cover lens have any slits as well?
