Here is the issue.

In my 5 months with the car, I had 3 flat tires (one of them at 130mph+ at the track).

I usually carry one of my front wheels from my second set of wheels as a spare at the rear seats.

I sold my second set of wheels, and I haven't been able to find new ones.

Do you know if the 911 Turbo spare tire fits our cars?

Any spare tire I could use?

I always carry a bottle of Tire Sealant. The problem is that when you have a broken tread or broken cords, than sealant will be useless.

I'm shocked at the 3 flats! Do you live around a lot of new construction? Has any one else noted problems with the MPS picking up nails?

NJ, I feel your pain. Though I've had only one, a rear. Something jumped up & bit the inside sidewall. Doubt I was even going 50, never saw a thing! As we know there isn't much of a side wall there! Only 3k on the tires & $370. later.....
I don't have a spare set either. I'm assumming it's just a freak thing.

NJ-GT: Once upon a time I thought I read that the spare tire for the 996 Turbo with the PCCB option would fit the GT3. Don't recall where though. I'd definitely try before buying though as I think the PCCB retrofit for the 996 Turbo is the smaller 330mm front rotor rather than the 350mm GT3 front rotor.

There was a thread about this several months ago- do a search. I"m pretty sure the TT spare for PCCB does fit- the thread gives the part numbers, etc. A parts guy friend at a dealership said it would cost about $400!!! I thought about it before a 600 mile round trip to Road America but didn't- and luckily had no tire problems... I think a couple guys here have done it.

Will this spare fit into the luggage space on the GT3 in the front. If that's the case then keeping one around would be a good insurance policy.

I believe it will fit in the space where the sytrofoam piece is now but don't hold me to it. Worse case scenario would have you putting behind the seats if you're on a trip, unless of course you've retrofitted GT3 seats!

I have a 996 Turbo spare wheel fitted in the front of my Mk 1 GT3 Clubsport with the 90 ltr fuel tank, when I removed the polystyrene tray the hole for the securing screw was already in the floorpan

Bought the wheel and the aluminium jack that fits the sill point from a Porsche second hand spares specialist last year. What to do with a 10inch rear wheel if I have a passenger is another matter as the roll cage stops it going anywhere but on the front seat in a large plastic bag

Tintin, you have the smaller rotors and calipers at front.

The flat tire goes on the rear windshield in a tire bag (one of those used in F1), supported by the rear wing. Same as the old Ford Thunderbird.

This solves any tire flat issues. If it's a screw/nail puncture, this permanent plug...Vulcanizes once inserted and welds with the existing tire rubber allows you too continue on you way till you get back home to have tire removed and internally patched...If they are your track tires, that would be a different matter. I carry this kit in my car. remove the screw and plug it while wheel still on the car and top off the air w/ the porty pump. Great piece of mind if you ask me and a lot easier than carrying and putting on a spare wheel/tire.

NJ-GT,

I am using a space saver spare from a PCCB equipped 996TT in my MK1 CS. And i have the Mk2 brakes fitted! Sqeezing it into the front is a bit tight. If i ever need to use it, the punctured wheel goes into a bag and onto the passengers lap!!
As long as it is from a PCCB car, they fit just fine, although i dont know if it is yhe same part from a steel braked TT.
