Default Anyone here successfully eliminate / delete their SAI Secondary Air system 96+ ?

I'm about to do the TPC supercharger and a full Fabspeed RSR header/exhaust system (no cat). Maryland is a state where your vehicle needs to be 20 years old to be registered as a Classic, which eliminates the requirement for emissions testing. My car wont be eligible until 2016 but honestly, I'm willing to deal with the issue when it comes. I'd rather just ditch the whole SAI system now and pull the CEL bulb unless there is some resistor/jumper trickery to fool the stock DME that the SAI system is hunky-dory. I see Patrick Motorsports sells those plugs for the openings in the cam housings. I'd pay $18 for those as opposed to searching for some other random plugs. Any other suggestions / feedback?

I've eliminated SAI systems on several other vehicles in the past. 2 of which were my VR6 Turbo Mk2 and my friend Ed's S50B32 euro motor swap into his 99 BMW M-Coupe, where I had to fabricate a block off plate to go on the under side of the head. (Ed is Rennlister: Cosmos99). Tree-hugging emission requirements make me angry, , haha.

I'm new to the 911 owner world but I have a steep learning curve so... Thanks in advance for entertaining all my questions during this project I've been searching high and low and have found very little info. I PM'd a few guys who brought this subject up years ago. Figured I'd post a thread of my own.

I assume most track cars running 96+ engines have had it removed so I'm open to those options.

From earlier threads:

Would be all you really need to practically plug the ports when you remove the pump.

Although my junker is a '95, I figured I'd post my old SAI removal thread to give you some inspiration.

Rich, if you pull the bulb wouldn't you lose out on other issues that could cause a cel? This is going to be a fun project. Looking forward to following it.

Yup, LOL. Here's the way I look at it... If I yank the SAI system, I don't care about the SAI faults. If the only other thing the CEL shows is a logged history of things like random cylinder misfires, the CEL isnt really all that helpful anyway. If the car is running poorly, I dont need an annoying light to tell me. I'm dumbing this down a bit but in general, all the CEL light does it indicate there is a stored fault in the DME and I can check that periodically with a Durametric tool or another OBD2 scan tool. If the car is bucking and running poorly and the CEL is flashing, do you really need a flashing light to tell you? LOL

You know what... sadly, youre right.

Ex GF: "The light just started flashing... I dont know whats wrong"
Me: "Um, how long has it been running like this... on 3 cylinders?"
Ex GF: "Uhhh.... you mean like shaking and stuff? About a week. My dad said it's probably bad gas"
Me: "I am going to go punch your dad now"...

HAHA

Will do.

There is an electronic solution out there to keep the light out due to air injector issues. I wonder if it could be used and preserve the light for other issue notification as on our cars it covers HVAC, anti-lock brakes and certain other engine issues?
