We Want to Start 2020 in this 934.5 Interscope Replica
Like Jekyll and Hyde, this Porsche race replica that we found on Racing Junk can be enjoyed on the track or the street.
RacingJunk is our new favorite place to hunt for cars and kill time at work. That website may have started as a place to sell race cars, trailers, parts, and tools, but now you can find some seriously cool street cars there, too.
This 1986 Porsche 911 Turbo is a little bit of both. At one point, it had been converted into PCA DE car before the current owner acquired it in 2016.
At that point, 934.5 replica bodywork was commissioned, and BBS center-lock wheels were fitted. It was painted to match the Interscope team car, famously campaigned at Sebring and Daytona in the late 1970s. Aside from the obvious racing pedigree, those pink, orange, and cream stripes look terrific against the black paint.
The 3.3 liter turbo engine has been upgraded with a 50mm Turbosmart wastegate, twin spark ignition and MoTeC engine management. When it was freshened up in 2015, the engine was fitted with upgraded rod bearings and head studs, as well as new exhaust valve guides.
Keeping things cool is a set of triplets. Three Setrab oil coolers are hidden behind that massive front air dam. The ad notes that the undertray is removable for easier service.
Of course, going fast is useless if you can’t stop fast, too. While aircooled 911s are well-regarded for having excellent brakes, a little bit of extra stopping power never hurt anyone. The ad states that the brakes were overhauled in 2018, with dual master cylinders, 993 calipers up front, and slotted discs all around.
Currently, the magnesium and aluminum BBS center-lock wheels host a set of sticky Goodyear race rubber. However, a second set of wheels wrapped in more street-friendly rubber is included in the sale.
Just 150 miles have been added by the car’s current owner, so there is still plenty of life left in this dual-purpose machine. We hope that the next owner spins that odometer to the moon and back. If this was ours, we certainly would. The car currently resides in Portland, Orgeon. It’s yours for $159,000.
