Vintage rallies are what all the cool kids are into these days. And why wouldn’t they be? If you’re a vintage Porsche enthusiast, nothing is is quite like getting together with birds of a feather and hitting the road together.
This is especially true when you get to check out some pretty incredible cars and scenery along the way. The Coastal Range Rally matches all that criteria, and even offers a little more. As it turns out, this year featured tons of incredible Porsche machines.
Vintage Porsche brigade up the Central Coast
The three-day event spanned all throughout California’s Central Coast, a portion of the Coastal Range that stretches all the way from Alaska down to Mexico. It’s brimming with rugged terrain, breathtaking ocean views, and bountiful mountain roads. What better place to race, right?
Origins of the Coastal Range Rally
The idea for the event came about from popular demand. The problem? None of the Driving While Awesome drivers owned cars that qualified for any rallies.
So, they did what any enterprising American would do—they started their very own. With this rally, the only rule for cars to qualify cars is that they must have “a sense of occasion.” Whether you have a Porsche, a BMW, a even a Nissan, if you qualify, you’re good to drive!
