Porsche 911 Turbo S is a Breath-taking One-Off Tribute Model

Porsche Latin America partnered with Porsche Mexico and unveiled a tribute model to commemorate the life and career of legendary race car driver Pedro Rodríguez.

It is no secret that Porsche likes to celebrate its rich motorsport lineage. The Stuttgart-based company has now unveiled a tribute model to commemorate the life and career of legendary race car driver Pedro Rodríguez, who tragically lost his life nearly half a century ago at Norisring street circuit. Rodriguez was a renowned race car driver who had two Formula One Grand Prix wins to his name. The tribute model is called Porsche 911 Turbo S ‘One of a Kind’ Pedro Rodriguez.

Porsche Latin America partnered with Porsche Mexico for the new tribute model that was unveiled in Toluca, Mexico. The unveiling took place at Sportscar Together Day, which was held at Centro de Alto Rendimiento Pegaso. The tribute vehicle is based on a Porsche 911 Turbo S and sports the iconic Gulf Oil livery. The car rides on a set of specially designed rims, which get an aluminum center lock and a high gloss black finish.

“Pedro Rodríguez continues to be the Latin American driver who has given Porsche the most triumphs and joy,” explained George Wills, President, and CEO of Porsche Latin America. He further added, “With this unique car in the world we want to pay tribute to a unique, irreplaceable driver, an idol of the past and a legend of today.”

The car’s styling was influenced by Porsche 917 KH which was piloted by Pedro Rodriguez on many occasions. Pedro’s signature and the outline of 917 KH can be found on a plaque that sits on the B-pillar. For this special edition model, the company chose the colors of the Mexican flag to reproduce the 917 KH silhouette. The car’s interior is wrapped in Graphite blue leather and flaunts contrasting orange stitching that complements the Gulf Oil livery’s signature racing stripe.

Director of Porsche Mexico, Camilo San Martin also shared his thoughts on the tribute car. “This car has unique elements that no other car in the world could have,” said Camilo San Martin. He further added, “This configuration, with these specific details and equipment, has been locked in the Porsche configurator, as well as in the production system, so that this car is literally unrepeatable.”
