What might be the nicest of the 15 total Porsche 924 Carrera GTS Club Sport models built is now up for sale.

Most Porsche fans worth their salt are aware of the ultra-rare 924 Carrera GTS Club Sport, a very special machine created by the automaker as a street-legal yet even more powerful version of the Carrera GTS built for Group 4 racing. A mere 15 examples of this special model were built in total, and today, each one of them is highly coveted and rather valuable, as one might imagine. However, we’d wager that this particular Porsche 924 Carrera GTS Club Sport up for grabs at Canepa is the nicest one left in existence, largely because, well, it has a mere 40 original miles showing on the odometer.

Compared to the regular GTS, the Porsche 924 Carrera GTS Club Sport is relatively easy to distinguish thanks to its wide wheel arches, fixed headlights, lighter hood, hood pins, and additional oil coolers. It weighed a little over 300 pounds less than a run-of-the-mill 924 while packing an array of upgrades including a stiffened suspension and a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder powerplant that cranked out an impressive-for-the-time 270 horsepower.

Flowing to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission, that power didn’t have to move much, as the GTS Club Sport weighs a mere 2,337 pounds – which obviously added up to some pretty impressive performance. In fact, Porsche sent three regular GTS models to the 1981 24 Hours of Le Mans and walked away with 6th, 12th, and 13th overall finishes. As one might imagine, the more powerful, road-going GTS Club Sport was also one of the fastest production vehicles of its time, too.

As for this stellar example, it was originally sold to Porsche collector and ophthalmologist Dr. William Jackson at Bob Hagestad Porsche-Audi in Denver, Colorado. He kept it for 24 years, obviously never bothering to drive it much, before selling the car John Dixon at the Taj Ma Garaj in Dayton, Ohio in 2005, where it remained until 2019, at which point Garage 26 acquired it.

Today, this special, well-preserved 924 GTS Club Sport has received a thorough polish by Canepa, and is hitting the market yet again. Accompanied by all its original literature, tool kit, and various other goodies, this could easily be the very best example of its very rare, very special breed, though with no price listed, we can’t even begin to imagine what kind of money it might ultimately sell for.
