Porsche Classic Tests New Decals & Accessories For First-Gen Cayenne

Porsche Classic is working on new accessories for the first-gen Cayenne to commemorate the tenth anniversary of its lauded SUV nameplate.

Porsche has decided to do something interesting for the original, first-gen, Cayenne which made its world debut back in 2002. At present, Porsche Classic is working on new accessories and three decal sets for the original Cayenne. The new options will allow owners to customize vehicles in their unique style.

Porsche decided to explore new individualization options for the original Cayenne to commemorate the tenth anniversary of its lauded SUV nameplate. Porsche’s decision was influenced by the additions that are popular amongst Cayenne owners. Manager of Product and Quality Management at Porsche Classic, Eduard Reichert shared his thoughts on the new accessories.

“This car has real character,” said Reichert. He further added, “We have seen what owners have already been doing to their vehicles, when it comes to roof tents, extra lights and all-terrain tyres, for example. We will be offering customers the chance to equip their cars in a very unique way. Individual and sporty.”

Superb Build Quality

Thanks to its impressive build quality, there is still a high demand for accessories amongst first-gen Cayenne owners. Style Porsche is responsible for the design of the three decal sets.

The new sets are currently being tested and are called Hunt, Rallye, and Adventure. Porsche hints that the new individualization options might soon be available to owners of the first-gen Porsche Cayennes. The Porsche Classic division is also testing some original accessories for the first-gen SUV, which include luggage compartment trays, roof baskets, mud flaps, floor mats, and wheelsets.

Porsche hopes to have them up for sale soon. The German automaker states that the possibilities “are almost limitless” with its first-gen SUV. Cayenne was Porsche’s first-ever super SUV nameplate. The model was a major departure for the Stuttgart-based automaker. The launch did not sit well with many purists. However, a few years down the line, the first-gen SUV became one of Porsche’s most popular models.

The nameplate also saved the automaker from financial turmoil. The first-gen Cayenne remained in production till 2010, which makes it one of the most popular modern Porsche nameplates. With around 275,000 examples produced, most of them remain on the roads, to date. Porsche Cayenne’s impressive build quality and popularity is the reason why there is still a strong demand for the new range of accessories and decals.
