SilverStone Auctions is known for selling desirable and exclusive sports cars in England. In its upcoming Classic Race Aarhus Auction, there’s a variety of intriguing and interesting cars, like the 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500, the 1973 BMW 2002Tii, a 1991 Ferrari Testarossa, a 1989 Mercedes 190 2.5 Evolution, and a 2002 Lamborghini Murcielago LP620. There’s even an E-Type Series I Roadster going on the block. So what’s a Volkswagen van doing in such company? Much of it has to do with one of its past owners.

This 1989 Volkswagen T3 Doka is already a rare vehicle. The Transporter pickup isn’t seen often, let alone a double-cab (Doka) version of it. But the cherry is the fact that Ferdinand Alexander Porsche once owned it. You know Ferdinand. He designed the first 911.

After founding his industrial design company, Porsche Design, back in the day, Ferdinand moved it to Zell am See, Austria, where his family already had a farm. That’s what this pickup was for. Paperwork proves that Ferdinand was the first owner, and it was reportedly simply used for random odd jobs around the estate. The current seller, who is a Porsche racer himself, bought the VW in 2014 and put it through a 700-hour complete restoration.

It’s not a Porsche, but for the marque’s history nuts, this is an absolute gem. The auction will take place in Denmark on May 28th, and the pickup is expected to sell for around $100,000.
