‘Art of Driving’ YouTuber Shows Off His Stunning Silver Porsche 718 Spyder

Take a deep dive into this sweet ride from top to bottom.

The Porsche 718 Spyder is a gorgeous little sports car, but that’s no surprise coming from a brand known for its sleek luxury. YouTuber Janko Lind of The Art of Driving channel provides a tour of his new 718 Spyder and the options that he chose to turn this sleek little Porsche into the perfect car for his needs.

Exploring the Exterior

Lind is quick to point out that the nice thing about designing your own Porsche and choosing your options is that you can easily customize it to your needs. He also reiterates that these are his choices and the options he chose might not work for your needs. “My thoughts, my religion,” he repeats multiple times, turning the design of this sportscar into a kind of worship.

The first thing that stands out about Lind’s 718 Spyder is the lack of color. The whole thing is silver with black trim. Even the calipers are black, an option that doesn’t come standard and cost quite a bit extra. Adding yellow or red calipers, he feels, would have destroyed the look of the vehicle with that pop of color, and would be better with something like a Corvette.

“I want the eye to look at the design and shapes of the vehicle, not having dots of colors destroying the looks and the beauty,” he says.

The car’s dynamic light system — something that is standard on the GT4 — helps the 718 Spyder look a little wider, which improves the overall look.

Lind opted for the rear Park assist but didn’t realize until after they purchased the convertible that the PCM had been upgraded, changing the parking assist and making it less effective. If he’d known that before he completed the purchase, he would have opted for the reverse camera instead.

Moving Inside

Before showcasing the interior, the first thing that Lind does is drop the top, showing off the 718 Spyder’s convertible features. He also opted for the full leather interior, including the leather-clad steering column and steering wheel. The black and silver motif continues to the interior as well, featured in black leather with deviated silver stitching. He also opted for a specific sun visor and light package, even though these can look a little awkward while the top is down.

Things that we often take for granted in the U.S., like the windshield top tint, are optional in Sweden where Lind is located so he had to make sure to include that in his build. Oddly enough, his Porsche also came with a fire extinguisher that wasn’t included in the order. While it’s always a good idea to have a fire extinguisher around, the red clashed with Lind’s stark silver and black color scheme so it will likely end up in the garage.

Of course, you can’t have a Porsche without a manual transmission, and the 718 Spyder’s 6-speed manual does not disappoint. He also opted for things like the passenger storage net, floor mats, and Apple Car Play, which are not standard in Swedish vehicles. His only complaint about this build is the two-zone climate control — something that is kind of pointless in a convertible because, as Lind puts it, “It can’t control Swedish weather.”

Remember Your Purpose

Spyder options

There are a great number of options available when you’re designing the Porsche of your dreams. Lind often receives messages and comments asking him to help someone design and spec their Porsche. To them, he offers one tidbit of advice — stick to your purpose. Understand what you’re going to use the vehicle for, whether that means commuting, racing, showing, or just storing in your garage — and design your vehicle by sticking to that purpose.

Whether you’re designing a sleek silver and black Porsche like Lind or have something a little more colorful in mind, there are more than enough options to go around. Just stick to your purpose and you’ll have something that will serve you well for years to come.
