Default Lightest wheels

So which 8.5 wheels are the lightest? Has anyone done a weight comparison of all SPB legal wheels? PM me if it's a big secret. Or don't.

EDIT: How much $ do these 8.5s go for these days?

Is there a list of allowed SPB wheels (Porsche part numbers) available? Would 987 17" wheels fit/work and if so are they allowed?

2016 PCA Rulebook;
"I. Any factory cast aluminum rims intended for a Boxster and matching the original offset are allowed; front wheels must
be at least 18.5 lbs. and rear wheels at least 20 lbs. Rear wheels must be 17 x 8.5 inch, 48‐50 mm offset. Front wheels
may be either 17 x 7 inch, 55 mm offset, or the same size and offset as the rear wheels (17 x 8.5 inch, 48‐50 mm offset)"

Any opinions/experience on using a square 7x17 set for rains? Narrower contact patch is usually better for rain and/or standing water.

You are correct, and if I was running in the rain I would consider 4 7" Rain tires as the 7" wheels are cheap and readily available.

Brad Roberts had proposed a 7 square setup for rains a couple years ago but I don't think it got any traction (haha) with rules committee.

Is it expressly prohibited by the rules? If yes, then on what basis is the 4x8.5 setup allowed?

^ Rules are clear. You can run 8.5" square or 8.5/7" stagger. 7" square not allowed.

I don't have a dog in the fight as I won't run in the rain, but that's a stupid rule that goes against both the frugality of the class but also against everything I have read about rain tire sizing..

^ I don't disagree but those are the rules as currently conceived.

Bumping this up as it's still not clear on what the different wheel designs weigh, or if it makes a difference. I've acquired enough wheels to do a square setup, a staggered setup, and a rain setup...want to use the heaviest wheels for the rains. I have Sport Classics, Carrera twists, and Boxster S twists. This site lists the Boxster S twists at 10.4kg, but is missing weights for the other two designs in 8.5". Anyone have that info??
