What stops you all from upgrading to the 991 and beyond?
Hey guys,
I'm loving my 997. I really am. But every time a new porsche comes out, I can't stop thinking about it. How are you guys able to hold back from always wanting to upgrade your 997? I know it's mostly psychological, but...would love to hear your opinions on this!

oh nooooo pls
But I know my reasons. My 997 is the last of the real 911's, its visceral, raw, analog, involving, non electric steering piece of perfection (did I miss any over used superlatives??)
Oh and its 1" shorter than a 991

I have a Targa, and one of the most useful parts of the Targa is the hatchback style opening rear window. With 3 kids, it makes having the car extremely practical. As much as I love the styling of the 991 targa, I don't know if I could give up the hatchback at this time.
Also, prefer the glass roof overhead compared to the 991 targa roof.

I like my car and keep them along time if I do... I get to know it, take it apart, break some stuff... fix it... I keep them until the engines blow.......

Because a 991 IMO is a downgrade. After a test drive, it didn't do it for me. The wagon wheels, large dimensions, and Panamera interior also leave it aesthetically inferior IMO. Albeit, to each their own.

Ahem .. cough cough ... money
At the time I bought my highly optioned CPO 2012 C4S a year ago for 62.5k, I just couldn't justify paying 30k more for a similarly equipped 991 C4S... and the fact that the 991 is more of a GT sealed the deal for me..

It's an endless debate.
It's not about what car has this or that. Everyone's requirments are different so we will never allign there.
You have to define what you want and either buy or build that. Until you get there you will always lust.
What's missing from the 997 that you must have?

I had a 991 GT3 for 11 months. As great of a car it was, but it was a smoker....So I traded it in. However, I still have my 997.2 C4S which I don't think I will ever get rid of. I love the droopy wide a$$ (991 lost the droop) and the interior is just such a nice blend of modern and the more traditional air-cooled interiors. Its really perfectly captures what a modern 911 should be.
