Hello!

I recently bought a slightly rough 77 911s with the intent of turning it in to a track/weekend car. It's an absolute blast, and I really really love it, but the experts at TRE are advising me to explore a swap for something with a 3.0 or 3.2 already instead of heading down that path myself. I believe in full disclosure, so I'm sharing everything I know/have learned below. Don't be discouraged, if you're looking for a *driver* project and not a restoration, this is a great car!

The car has steel 930 flares, 964 front/rear/skirts, and is running a bit of a boy racer aesthetic w/ black highlights (headlight rings, hood, reflector, 993 mirrors) and 17" ruf style wheels on aggressive spacers. It has the usual longevity upgrades for the 2.7 (headers, valve covers, oil fed cam tensioner, turbo fan, permatune igntion) as well as magnaflow 2 into 2, dino wheel, momo shiftknob, white face gauges and RS door panels.

PPI from my purchase in Feb available. Leakdown was ~15% and compression ~170. Recent smog good until 04/05, but should pass again. The smog pump is currently off (needs new bolt/bushings) but should be back on soon.

Car runs and pulls strong (starts up every time) and is an absolute BLAST to drive. Visually it's a solid 5 footer, but has some paint bubbles/flakes and other imperfections. Galvanized, so no rush issues. Transmission is a little finicky, requiring a double clutch to get into second. Steering feel and suspension feels good, though there is a slight tire rub on the right rear under hard left turns. Most likely fixed with a slight roll (or changing wheels/ditching spacers). Everyone who drives it can't help but break into a grin after a few minutes, it's way more fun than it has any right to be.

Reason for trade:
This is a really fun car for town, but I really want to get it out to the track. The 2.7 leaking oil from, well, everywhere and is most likely from a previous poor rebuild. See pic below for seepage. I had TRE look it over as a track car candidate, but the engine plus some other needed maintenance/upgrades (clutch, 2 wheel bearings going, stainless brake lines) combine to make it a big undertaking.

I'm mostly looking for (the highly unlikely) possibility of someone who has a 76+ running a 3.0 or 3.2, preferably with some track mods already done. Bonus for widebody and/or hot rod/R Gruppe style. They may have a "Porsche Problem" like me and be interested in this fun little project. I'd be willing to go mine + ~5-10k on top for the right car.
