Ergonomics are also a big thing. I almost sold my 993 a few years back before I changed the drivers seat. At 6'2" I could not get comfortable in the car. The new ones fit me like a glove.
Anything air cooled can now only be described as a classic car - not for everybody.

The best bang for the buck is a 996. Better car in every way.....til it blows up.

I guess that's the quirky loveable factor in the 996 gen, TT excluded of course.

I'll take slow and dainty any day and yes I agree the best part is owning both versions. Currently in the market for a 997.2 Cab for wifey if anyone is selling.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Deposit on a VERY nice (Canadian) example given today. Will report with photos after what I hope and presume will be a successful PPI.
