I'm currently saving to buy a 993 and was curious as to where I could find a good, honest mechanic that specializes in porsche repairs. Would prefer not having to go through a dealer for routine repairs, etc. Thanks for your help.

I have been using Targa out on North Vancouver. I don't know how he is with 993s but with 3.2 Carerra he has been good to me.

Weissach, SCAN, Targa, and Otto's Euro in PoCo.

I take my 951 to SCAN for service, but I try to buy my parts from Weissach whenever I can.

Any idea where SCAN gets their porsche parts? Ie. their sources? They seem decent but their quotes for most parts are similar to dealer prices and nowhere near as good as the Big 3 (even after shipping/custom/currency conversion).
Also, since they don't offer any warranty on their work if you buy the parts yourself, it's a little difficult deciding if I should pay higher prices for the parts they get in and labour just for the warranty on their work. And the other issue I have is they don't seem to like giving time estimates on jobs. Mostly I am quoted "it isn't cheap" in regards to labour. I just want to know an estimate as to how long it takes them to do a job or what the book time is for certain things.

I get the feeling Weissach supplies a lot of the parts for the vancouver Porsche market. But I don't know for sure.

Yeah I would be interested about a good mechanic. Especially a race mechanic in the area to handle my 993 track car. It is so difficult finding a trustworthy mechanic that will actually fix things and steer you right on mod decisions instead of going the easy way to replace stuff and charge you an arm and a leg for everything... That is what I have right now and what i will miss the most moving to BC...
