Audio Books? Podcasts?
Hi all,
I saw that the "Stig" had a new book out and I started looking for some listening material on driving, instruction, techniques. I have not been able to find much of anything in the audio form.
I do enjoy Adam Carolla's carcast podcast show who does have stories of him racing and other pro or celebrities cars and racing, but not exactly anything that could help me learning and developing as a driver.
Does anybody have any recommendations?
Thanks
Pete

There are a bunch of automotive podcasts, of varying levels of quality. These are more for entertainment than driver training though. You should be able to get them by doing a search on Podcast Addict, Itunes, and similar apps.
Motorsport Magazine puts out a monthly podcast with a long form interviews of racing legends. It's always good and the panel of interviewers from the Magazine are super knowledgeable about the history of motorsport. Highly recommend.
Sportscar365 has a weekly podcast called Double Stint.
Goodwood has a podcast that is similar to the Motorsport Magazine one, with long and short interviews centered around the excellent Goodwood revival and festival of speed events.
RadioLeMans has a podcast where they air the race commentary and a show called Midweek Motorsport (warning, it's very British)
Dinner with Racers has been mentioned on Rennlist before, they have some good, fun interviews.
The Vintage Racing Podcast is interesting shop talk/ bench racing but is maybe a bit too specific to the Bay Area and Alfa/Lotus cars.
Some others I have seen on my feed but not listened to much include: Grassroots Motorsports, Cars Yeah, Slip Angle, and Car Stories.

Thanks, I will look into those podcasts.
I think possibly the diagrams in the driving books help make sense of the reading and in turn cannot be fully conveyed in just audio?

I second the Dinner with Racers podcasts. I just drove back and forth to Mid Ohio form Chicago and it flew by listening to a bunch of these. Won't help you with your line but a great way to pass the time when on the road.

I also like the 5 Live F1 podcast. Again, not much in race craft - but good F1 reporting.

+1 on Diner with Racers. Helps pass the time driving around the rust belt. Also, good to know who Katherine Legge thinks was her worst teammate.

Any good "must read" books on racing skills and knowledge?

Yeah, I am really enjoying the long trips listening to these.
As someone who is still doing their DE and signed up for a 3 day skippy school soon, hearing about how semi to professional drivers got to their level is very interesting...
I just listened to two episodes with Lee Grimes from Koni North America on the slip angle podcast about chassis setup, tuning and all around driving and competing- excellent info for someone like me learning.

Motorsports Magazine podcast new episode has David Richards of Prodrive. Lots of other good ones in the archive with drivers and team personnel. Very interesting how many of these team leaders managed to find success in such a tough field for so long. Many from very humble beginnings, from sweeping the shop floor to mechanic to running the team. Good stuff.
