Hurricane Trailers?
Does anyone on here own a Hurricane and if so any feed back would be appreciated.
I have been comparing trailers hard now for some six weeks and keep coming back to this place:

I am not going aluminum, don't believe the oft heard " all GA trailers are junk" and seriously wonder why a left over bare bones out of business Pace nearby is $4000 OVER what a comparably equipped Hurricane is.
All the Hurricane spec's are top shelf, the cut out the middle man, build to order and I'm thinking of going down to check them out. I also plan to look at a "United" brand in MD next week and actually intend to nicely ask them why their trailer is $2500 more than one 12 hours further south form me.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to buy local and I like well made stuff. That combination up here in New England simply seems to mean big $.
I am thinking of a very well equipped v-nose 22-24' with a race package similar to this one:

I ran across the Hurricane trailer on the racing junk website. Here is the thread from it. There are a couple of guys who have purchased this trailer and seem to be quite happy with it. I ended up getting a Cargo Mate strictly due to the delivery costs. They can get expensive if you are not close to the factory, you can quickly eat up any savings.

I ordered a 22 ft vnose from Hurricane last winter. It took about 2 weeks longer than originally promised.
The salesperson suggested that I consider the white vinyl walls instead of the white alum to save some costs and it ended up being white textured walls which I didn't really like. That is my only complaint.

If you buy one, re-torque the wheels before towing anywhere and check at every stop. A fellow racer lost a wheel on his first trip (to WG) with his new Hurricane trailer and it tore the box and hub up real good.

My trailer and Scott's were delivered together and we made the Watkins Glenn trip together when his wheel came off (ironically practically in front of the Glen).
As far as we can tell his likely were not torque and since he had the mag wheels with the enclose nuts you could not visually tell that they were backing off.
I walked around my trailer with the steel wheel and open nuts and could see the remaining threads on each lug to determine that all was good.
With that said, I think the advice for any brand of trailer (new or used) is to check the torque before and during your trip.
