Default The Porsche 959 Is an Admirably Elusive Dark Knight

The guys over at EVO were lucky enough to get some track time with an other worldly 959, and they made a darn good video while doing so.

Drool, the 997tt is the 959's direct descendant. Every modern turbo (993/996/997) owes its existence to the mighty 959.

Captured my imagination way back when in the 80's and I've been enamored with the marque ever since.

Stunning car, I wish I had a funds to buy it! And great video by EVO, I have learnt new thing about 959, it concerns its chassis and that it has incorporated full roll cage to stiff the body! Amazing especially when we realize that it all was made back than in early 80's... This is an excellent example of Porsche innovation and how they eventually created the future for whole automobile industry! 959 is such a timeless Porsche, it will never get old.

Here is a nice website to expand your knowledge abut 959:

I was looking at 959's in restoration yesterday at Canepa and didn't notice this?

Porsche had had water cooled heads and air cooled blocks before in their race cars had they not? Certainly not unusual with motorcycles. What suggests there was a 'philosophical debate' at Porsche? Making a whole new water cooled block would have made it much much more expensive.

'It hasn't got any rain gutters!'

Great video and car design. It does seem very much like an evolution of the 935. Have enjoyed reading about it in the supercar forum thread. Why do they tend to end upside down?

The Car to End all Cars.

Yet technology through the 20 plus years has seen the cavalcade of cars increase in performane and also in their pricing as well.

But still if I could ever afford one The 959 is the absolute top car on my list.
