Aventador SV at the ring under 7 min.

You called it a "press kit tune" and the tires were not as described.
When asked you stated - you know people - which is inferring the test car / lap time has been juiced up vs the customer cars.
Now you are saying it will be offered sooner or later - doubt the SV is not going to have two ECU maps as an option why would anyone take the lessor - it either is or is not a "press kit" tires aside ... so?

Was at the Aventado presentation and factory drives.
Going to the SV factory presentation at the dealer this week - is there a secret shake to get the info on the "press kit" ...
To answer your question no - nor do I think there is one reading this thread.

Taken from lambo power: The sub 7 minute lap – I spoke to three guys, independently , who were there – one from Pirelli – and two from Lambo – they all said the car was running Corsa’s – there was NO DOUBT about this….and they only modification was the roll cage. They all said no engine map changes or tweaks – but having now driven the car – I can see how it could achieve those times. The Pirelli guy said that they thought if they had really prepared and spent more time there they could have got another 5 or 6 seconds off the time - but then one Lambo guy intimated that they had had "the call" to say - "thats enough" alluding to the fact that no one wanted the 918 to be embarrassed after all the effort that went in to its time..............The SV is Mega - It’s a monster….and all 600 are sold out.

Also asked about the track and there was absolutely nothing special about that car or run. Lamborghini is simply passing down hard core engineering at a fraction of the price of Mclaren Ferrari and Porsche.
Ferrari one - off's are all about looks so there is nothing but good ole panache.
Tempted to can the Ford GT dream and go Bull.

I saw the BULL last week - some dealers may have a few left and others are way over sold there is the "top off" version. Fact of the matter is the SV is very similar to the 3.9M Veneno.

Lamborghini has always been the "perceived" underdog, but the product, since Ferruccios first has just been better and more groundbreaking than basically anything on offer. 350GT, Miura, Countach. Personally I love the brand. Very interesting cars and in my mind always more eclectic than the Ferrari counterparts.

This is a HUGE HUGE difference, something is not right.
So not for one second do I believe that SV was on regular Corsa. And after the P1-Nurburgring fiasco, the so called 'words from reliable source' are just jokes to me.
But what do I know...

Take a look at both onboard videos. That SV was constantly 7-10kph faster than 918 in mid-corner, even at the slowest part of the Nordschleife where SV did 76kph and 918 only 70kph.
This is a HUGE HUGE difference, something is not right.

For an AWD car, oversteer setup can make it much faster around corners but also extremely dangerous and difficult to save when breaking the limit. That SV had some serious OS characters. I just doubt that's you'll get in a production version.
As for the videos, Porsche brought Sport Auto with them to verify, even Mclaren brought EVO. Which third party did Lambo bring? Lots of stuff could happen outside a camera.

And McLaren didn't beat the 918 time. End of story.
The P1 is not a 903hp car, it is a 727hp car that has shots of 'nitrous' to make it 903hp at certain times, aka when the throttle is pinned to the floor. Once the battery is down, it saps engine hp to make electricity to refuel the tank. It broke the 7 minute mark when counting best sector times, i.e. when the battery is at full charge.
The 918 mostly is driven like a 887hp car, the full torque potential of the drivetrain combo is available up to 165mph, and that's the difference between it and the McLaren system.
Porsche 918 is the 1st production car to go under 7 minutes. It won't matter to Porsche had the P1 posted a faster time, it's very likely they won't go back had McLaren gone faster, that's was just a lame excuse from Woking. History only remember the 1st person to do stuff. Do you know who holds the record for running a mile right now? No? But Roger Bannister's name will always be attached to the mile run as he was the 1st person to break the 4 minute mark.
It actually doesn't matter how Lamborghini gets to under 7 minute. Tires? P1 ran cheater trofeo Rs too. Engine tune? As if McLaren didn't turned up the boost, which is much easier to do than tuning a NA engine car like the SV or the 918 on stock components. Current production 918s should have more power than the prototype that holds the record, each engine is dyno-ed to make sure they make at least 608hp, every single engine cleared that with ease but Porsche won't say how much over. So not out of the ordinary for an SV to have more than the rated 750hp.
As of right now, the SV and the 918 are the only 2 production car to go under. it's a very short list of champions.

I like Porsche too (because unfortunately I see too many Lambos in Knightsbridge, London), but you have to give full credit to the Lambo for it... And dare I say it, the Aventador SV was the first "non-hybrid" car to break the 7 minute mark (combustion power only). In true Lambo style--with a 12-cylinder monster that bellows with blue flame. Who knows, but if they make the SV with a removable top, then I may be very tempted indeed (perhaps because of the effect of the Countach on my earlier years; perhaps, who knows...). I would just have to see how engaging the car is to drive first (and it is a bit "showy" -- thats why I like the more reserved functional style of Porsche).
What perhaps is even more surprising, btw, is that the 911 Turbo S beat the Ferrari Speciale on the Anglesey track with EVO (and less than a second behind the 918). Thats got "four seats" (well, 3 adults) and "goes like the clappers". It may be my first turbo since I need a good all weather car that I can take more than one other person on for some road trips. And it also has a relatively small footprint (good for going around Lake Como). Its the only 911 with 4-wheel steering in addition to 4-wheel drive (like the 918) which I think is a bigger deal than is commonly acknowledged and which is why I am more inclined towards it (the cabriolet version since I love having the top off or down) than some other models.
Meanwhile, summer is soon upon us and I just can't wait until another couple of weeks when the fire breathing dragon lets loose with all of its 10-cylinder unmistakable F1 HOWL.
Cheers all.

Went to the dealer yesterday to spec the SV and cancelled my "slot" on the new F12.

On a side note I wonder when someone will get that new Pagani on the Ring with a real racer behind the controls.
Why has the Ring become the defacto in measuring a car's performance; it just happens to be the worlds largest track besides the Isle of Man? It's just a measure of endurance both machine and driver.
