Colour code for Acid Green
#2
'Acid Green'...
Just around one year ago I reported from the first 918 test drive event I attended at The Thermal that I was told that a customer had ordered a 918 in the 'Acid Green' PTS color. But in late June of 2014, 10 months later, that color had not yet been approved (feasibility tests) by PAG for the 918. That was told to me by Melissa Witek of 'Porsche Exclusive' at a 918 driving event at Sonoma Raceway in California! I have not yet seen any 918 done in this color, although some here at this forum claim to have seen photos of it. Until any 'green' 918 Spyder that finally shows up is officially confirmed as 'Acid Green' by PAG (and not 'Lichtgrün/Birch Green/Light Green' code 253 which is a similar hue & fully approved by PAG as a PTS for years now), it is all speculation for now!
'Acid Green' mysteriously appeared as possible PTS color on the 991/981/Panamera in the January 2014 PTS list from PCNA as color code '2M8', but it was never submitted for feasibility testing or approved as a PTS. Then the color entry disappeared from the 'PTS' list in more recent months.
Keep in mind that any customer can submit a color sample of an 'acid green' he would like painted on his custom Porsche via 'Paint-to-Sample' - e.g. color of the Rimowa 'Acid Green' Salsa Air rolling bag from that German company! And that might be how '2M8' got on that list. I personally can't confirm if that is the color code that Porsche has established for the 'Acid Green' Hybrid brake calipers on its model. It indeed might be '2M8'...or not. Regardless, that's the color code (whatever is the caliper hue on the 918 & other Hybrids) I think they'll ultimately choose to call 'Acid Green' in the official (future) PTS list.

Thanks Eduardo - that's very helpful. This is more for one wall of the garage than the car itself (which is guards red). My local paint shop say their computer can match the colour, so I might try that. Philip

'Acid Green' became officially a PTS a while
back. So I thought I might post that for
confirmation of my earlier post in 2014!
Pretty good guess back then!

Thanks Eduardo. Do you know if this is the same color as what some people call "Chartreuse?"
I'm thinking of the 991.1 RS PTS'd in the same color in the early days of that car's product cycle...

'Chartreuse'...
from the early 911 period, is different from 'Acid
Green'.
There are four colors that are 'similar' but not
exactly the same in Porsche history: 'Chartreuse',
'Birch Green', 'Ravenna Green' and 'Acid Green'.
'Acid Green' is the newest color introduced around
the time the 918 was being developed & used to
highlight trim & brake calipers on the hybrids...
plus trim/decals used on the Limited Edition 997
models sold to folks that had ordered a 918 Spyder!
Of those four, two are associated with early 911's.-
'Chartreuse' and 'Birch Green' in the early 1970's.
'Ravenna' was also an early 1970's color...but used
in the 914 model.
Of those four colors, three are presently approved
for PTS at Porsche. 'Chartreuse' was & is color
code 226 - but it's now called only by its German
name 'Lindgrün'. 'Birch Green' was & is color code
253. And it's now also called by it's German name
'Lichtgrün' (albeit with a 'Light Green' subtitled).
And 'Acid Green' has the modern color code '2M8'.
'Ravenna Green' has not been requested nor approved
yet for PTS.

'Chartreuse' was allowed as PTS on a .2 997 gt3 RS 4.0 Limited Edition which belongs to a Rennlister in NY:

The color was not approved for the 991 models until
recently & I don't believe it was approved in time for
the '16 .1 991 gt3 RS. However, it was for the 911R
& this one below belongs to Rennlister G. Rahal:
