PS What has Kardashian's bottom ever done to you that you feel so embittered & resentful? Parts of Tijuana could stand 'urban renewal'. So why not let Kim try to 'cheek-it-out'. You should chill out too bro...and just let her pop your Champagne!

Talk about a Porsche rival to the Ferrari 458 Italia isn’t new. As a matter of fact, Porsche boss Matthias Muller revealed back in 2011 his desire to create a so-called Porsche 988 supercar. However, the project remains on the backburner as the German firm focuses its energy towards other cars and developments.
According to reports about the Porsche 988, it should have utilised a brand new 4.0-litre eight-cylinder engine to deliver over 600 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque and consequently rival next year’s twin-turbocharged Ferrari 458 Italia facelift. It was even believed the car would draw heavily on the Porsche 918 for its design but according to Autocar, nothing has materialised so far.
While Porsche is reportedly still keen on creating such a car, it is instead focuses on arguably more important projects namely the design and development of the next-generation Porsche Panamera, Cayenne and the new Boxster and Cayman duo. What’s more, a new range of flat-four cylinder engines are in the works alongside new gearboxes and final preparations for the facelifted Porsche 911 range are also underway.

'It’s the first time Porsche has dabbled in this supercar sector'...
The last authoritative/credible 960/988 report that I saw was this:
Amy Wilson
Automotive News
September 8, 2014 -
"960/988: Porsche continues work on a two-seat midengine coupe to fit between the 911 and the 918 Spyder. Dubbed FeFi inside the company, for Ferrari fighter, it could come to market as early as 2017. If it's produced, the vehicle is expected to use a 3.9-liter boxer eight-cylinder engine with four turbochargers producing 600 hp or more, and it would be priced at $250,000 or more."

[QUOTE=Z356;11807634]For Petevd & other members that are interested in the 960/988, here is Georg Kacher reporting in early 2013*. The program is evolving...so we'll keep bringing new reporting of it's revealed in the automotive press. This older report explains why Porsche felt the need to develop this model, which it's rather important part of the 960/988 concept for some of you to understand!
Almost 2 years later - news flash they scrapped it!
New reporting ... this makes Jalopnik look good.

Wow the orange 918 looks great. So Porsche sold about 20 cars and $20,000.000 in one day. Awesome!

We shall overcome...
It's not scrapped.

It's not being publicized further by PAG until every 918 is sold & delivered. They didn't want to disrupt the sales of the 918 Spyder. Too much money is at stake here & they can't overshadow their very expensive $845K+ Hybrid with a considerably less expensive & lighter mid-engine/CFRP shell that will be almost as capable as it's 918 'brother'! They are playing it prudently 'smart'. But as soon as those 918 are paid for & delivered....watch out! All bets are off! That is what Petervd was alluding to when he posted what he wrote on this forum.
But if some of you guys want to bury your head in the sand, fine. Just don't read my posts!
