Default Premature front tire wear anyone?

A friend's son has a Macan and loves it except...the front tires only last about 15K miles max.

While that sounds like an alignment problem, I'm curious if other Macan owners have experienced the same short tire life.

Your son has a friend with a 15,000 mile Macan? Wow. Might be the highest mileage I've heard of so far, since the first ones showed up at dealers just 1 year ago.

I don't think wearing out the tires at 15,000 miles is unreasonable, if they are the ultra-high-performance summer tires.

That's kind of strange because the torque split is generally favored for the rear wheels.

I have 17000 miles on my S, and there is plenty of tread left on all the tires. I expect I'll get well over 30k on them. And I frequently take corners in a spirited manner.

Straight line 30000 miles.
City commute, lots of turning and crabbing of the 4wd, I could see 15ooo miles.

I had to change the front tires of my Macan S at about 12,500 miles (Michelin Latitude Sport3 20" summer tires). Changed them because of extreme wear on the outer edges due to 6 autocross events. Still had about 5/32 on the rest of the tread but I was down to the cords on the outer edges in a couple of places. Backs are still holding up very well.

AutoX with a Macan? Cool!

Can see the fronts going faster because of the underseer set-up the Macan has. I expect 12-15k miles, not more...

Interesting, I have 8500 miles on mine and I don't see getting over 15k based on how they are wearing. Maybe I'm trying to hard to wear them down so I can swap to snows and buy a 21" set

I've only got 7000 miles on mine and all 4 tires seem to be wearing pretty evenly. I have the 21" turbo wheels with Summer tires and I don't autocross it, but I do enjoy zipping around corners and the occasional brisk launch. I'm expecting to get 15-18K from my tires, but we'll see how that works out in practice. The weight distribution is pretty even in the Macan -- if your fronts are wearing much more quickly than the rears, this sounds like a matter of driving style.

Porsches eat tires; you gotta pay to play, as it were. Some things just cost more if you want a car that prioritizes performance over economy. I rarely got more than 12K from the rears in my 911 an only slightly more than that in my Boxster. Track tires...well those are just disposable black donuts, lol.

15K on wife's Macan with a 1/2 track day and they probably still have 5k miles left. Tires are the super grippy Lattitude3's.

If the wear is even across the tires, it's more likely someone is just really enjoying the car

You track your (wife's) Macan? Wow. I wonder how many others do.

Well, I'd typically take the Cayman R. There is one exception I can think of: One track day operator does a charity 6 December trackday. Here in Germany, you might be lucky and get away with semi slicks, if not, I'd rather take the Macan instead of CR on winter tires.

Yep. Had to try it at least once. I was shocked by the pace it was able to keep; as were the drivers that had to give me point-by's
