Wiring harness for AIM SOLO DL to GT 3 Cup
I care for a bunch of GT 3 Cup cars and most run an AIM SOLO beside the Motec for better predictive timing. I made a power/CAN harness for one who had a SOLO DL. Then I thought that this might be an interesting way to integrate the AIM Smarty Cam and the SOLO timer. With the SOLO DL you do not need the GT 3 ECU bridge ($399) or the GPS antenna ($149)with the SC HD. So, I thought I'd offer them to the CUP guys.
Prices:
SOLO DL Harness is $100 shipped within US
SOLO DL with the GT 3 harness $740 (pricing error, revised) shipped within US
SOLO DL with harness, SC HD 2 (list $999) $1698 includes both RAM mounts and shipping in US
Thanks for looking

Good package. I'm in awe of Motec's features (and this is the ADL2 which is 10-year-old tech) but its timing mechanism is thoroughly obsolete. I find myself doing the same as what you suggested--to run a Solo on the dash for delta-timing.
I need something different from you though--a cable to program my AIM ECU bridge that's powering my Smarty. Will email you separately.

+2 for Jerry. Incredibly helpful. I wish I knew him earlier and made my SC/Solo/Motec/SLM/GPS purchases through him.

Professor Austin: For the Solo DL with Harness option - can you share the benefits of this set-up ? Is it basically an improved Timing system with integrated power via the GT3 harness, or can it feed any data to the MoTeC system via the CAN cable ? (For example, could I eliminate the need to use my MoTeC beacon ?) I'm assuming they are likely (2) totally separate data acquisition systems - with no interconnect. Please confirm - Thanks !

Hi Bill
Many cup guys have a Smarty Cam. To make that work with data, I've always used a GT 3 ECU bridge and a GPS antenna. I'm starting to see many Cup cars also use an AIM SOLO for lap timing and it has a better predictive lap time feature than Motec ADL and ADL2 do.
So, my option here was to make a kit that included all of the above, but by using the SOLO DL (because the DL will drive the camera), the ECU bridge and GPS antenna are not required and the SOLO DL is powered by the ECU so it doesn't need to be charged out of the car.
On to your next question, what does it do. The SOLO DL can store 150 ish race tracks so no drama when you arrive at the track, it will know where start finish is and no beacon to forget at the end of the weekend. The DL will record all of the ECU data but does not record sensors like brake pressure steering etc. The data can be downloaded and reviewed using Race Studio 2. Race Studio 2 is not as powerfull as Motec I2, but realistically many drivers only want lap times and Video.
Hope this answers your questions

My biggest problem with Motec ADL2 is that it doesn't update its reference lap on-the-fly. That "reference" is programmed into the ADL2 ahead of a session regardless of what laps you've run in that session. The delta-time becomes pretty much useless for me. Hence a Solo to show just that.
