Default 3.8 to 4.0 conversion

i have a 2010 cup car with the 3.8. I am looking to convert it to a 4.0. Is PMNA my only option to build this engine or are there other reputable engine builders that do these engine? Doe he ecu have to go back to Porsche?

unless you plan on keeping it forever, i wouldn't change the motor or have anyone else but PMNA work it. otherwise, your exit will be a challenge.

4.0 is legal for grand am.

But Laguna is right for resale value its best to keep it stock...BUT if you plan or running it for a while the 4.0 would be awesome!

For non PMA builders on west coast to go 4.0 I would rec:
BBI Autosport
GMG
911 Designs

On the east coast I have heard great things but never used them myself about: Autometrics

Just on Friday I was talking with Rick Deman and he's got a couple of RSR engines in his facility in Blauvelt, NY. Maybe the prudent thing to do is pull your stock engine, put it under a tarp, and build another one...

Does PMNA even offer 3.6 or 3.8 --> 4.0L conversion? I know they can easily do 3.6 to 3.8L conversion which add another $5K on top of rebuild cost. If PMNA do offer a 4.0L conversion ... how much does it cost and I can imagine many other parts will be changed such as intake etc

Yes, they do. I was offered a 4.0 liter option when I had mine rebuilt in late 2010. Big $$$

Believe the 4.0 crank requires a different oil pump as well due to clearance issues with the longer stroke.

Guys just did a Dyno day with two RS/street car, 3.8 and 4.0, HP delta was 40 HP more on the 4.0 of course. How much more does Porsche wants for the 4.0 rebuild?

You can go to 4.0 with pistons ,liners and boring the water housings +crankcases.
No rods ,crankshaft, oil pump (don't believe anybody who tells you that is doesn"t work.)
