Default Psm failure on a 06 S after battery was installed backwards

Ever since a battery was installed backwards in this 2006 cayman S the PSM failure has stayed illuminate. No fuses were blown. I tried replacing the steering angle sensor with no change. Is there a piwis process that needs to be carried out after installing a new steering angle sensor? I have a piwis II. I would like to know all the components of the PSM system so I can track down which one was fried from this mishap. Thanks to all that can shed some light on this.

Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery?

I'll try that along with grounding out the power cable to reset everything.

If the PSM light is going to turn off, it needs to be driven a few blocks first, after a battery disconnect.

Yes I understand that. When the battery was hooked up backwards it friend the alternator. That was replaced as well as the battery. Even after driving after that repair the light has always stayed on. Now it's starting to annoy me and I want to fix it. Also in my case it never turns off and the code can't be cleared.

I believe the Durametric can re calibrate the steering angle sensor. Also can clear PSM codes.
If you can't locate a Durametric in your area, pm me.....

Interesting. I'll have to fire up the laptop. I may be remembering the throttle position calibration option.
I assume you have v6 software installed. I'm surprised that with the PIWIS2 you haven't been able to track down the issue. Can you reflash the module (ABS?)?

Yes I have the enthusiasts v6. I think there's a pump for the psm? Or am I thinking the abs? That's what I'm kind of leaning to is the abs but, I don't have a abs fault. I was wanting to see if someone knew if there was a module or relay for the psm system.

Doesn't PSM use the ABS system to control the car? I just looked on my Dura Pro and see nothing helpful, but it's plugged into a 981 so some options may not be visible.

I also have a Durametric, but never recalibrated the steering angle sensor.

If you have a OBDII scanner, try clearing all codes. I have a Mercedes E320. To re-set the steering angle sensor on it, you simply turn the wheel to right full lock within 10 seconds of starting the motor, then full left lock, then center the steering wheel. Turn engine off. Wait 30 seconds, and then re-start the engine. All warnings are cleared.

There's something actually wrong. Relearning it isn't going to do anything.

Ya I checked the fuses. Ordered a abs unit and sensor to swap out and see if that fixes this issue. Hoping to solve this this weekend. I'll report back for anyone else that has this happen.
