Picked up a Cayman
Greetings, all
I just traded my 2004 Carrera for a Cayman, so you'll probably see an occasional post from me on this forum. See pic. Intended use is as a DD.
Cheers.

7th Gear
Just picked up the Cayman S I ordered August 30th. Put on 19" rims with winter tyres and put the 20" summers tyres and rims in storage. Now to sell the '87 928 S4 (5sp manual) that has been my DD these last twenty-five years.
Only 700+ miles on it so still in break-in mode......have to keep reminding myself that!

Mlbraptor,
My 996 was a 40th Anniversary Edition with a number of mods, including PSS9s (it was lowered), GT3 sways and drop links, locking toe links, short-throw shifter, Recaro Sport Topline seats, and full Fabspeed exhaust system (I did re-install the original cats, though). For track days, I would install a DAS bar and track wheels/tires. So it was a fun, fast track car but not very comfortable on the street. I actually test drove a 2002 996 Turbo (only 20k miles on it!) before buying the Cayman. The Turbo felt fat and slow compared to my 40th. I'll probably just buy a car for club racing to satisfy the track jag.
The new interiors are fantastic compared to the 986/996 vintage. And I am hoping the engine is more reliable than the M96/03 that was in (and, unfortunately on a couple occasions, out of) my 996. Cayman is fun to drive, has decent pep, PDK is truly amazing, and I don't need those vestigial things that passed for rear seats in the 996. Plus, it's hard to argue with the look of the new Cayman! It is simply gorgeous, in my opinion.
Hope this helps. Cheers.

Nice to know others have not only great taste in cars-but also color of said car. Many congratulations, you made an excellent choice.
Mine's an 2011-basic, with PDK. Sat in a 2014 a few days ago-very nice, bit more cabin room and the rear air inlets look very aggressive.

PS hopefully I have learned how to post smaller pictures!

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Porsche has upped its game inside and out with all the new models. I recently drove a new-ish Carrera with PDK and Sport Chrono, and it had some serious grunt.
RareAir, that's a great photo! The light gives it a lot of depth. Are you in Colorado?
