High Pressure Fuel Pump Repair
I havve a 2014 Cayenne S with 25k miles that started having issues with a "reduced engine power" light on the dash. I called the dealership and they had it towed in.
I received the car back today and they replaced the high pressure fuel pump. Would have cost about $1400 if not under warranty.
I read this was a problem with earlier model years. Did I just have bad luck or is the pump still a bad design. Thanks for any thoughts

FWIW, I had the high pressure fuel pump replaced under CPO on my 2010 911 4S last year. It was a known issue on the 997.2 Carreras, but as a new owner of a 2012 Cayenne S (CPO'd through Oct '18) I'd also be curious as to how prevalent it is on our Cayennes ....

we have replaced several of the pumps, usually on the older models, as they cause rough idle especially when cold and of course triggers the warning. Found that when it fails it causes fuel pressure fluctuation. Fairly easy to replace we usually charge parts and labor about 700
