Wheel arch extensions: Is it worth it ?
My build is locked (with the wheel arches)...but thought I would start this thread for future potential 2011 Caynne owners. The more I look at the 2011 Cayenne pics (this one taken from Champion Porsche's recent post) the more I feel that the $990.00 option for the wheel arch extension plastic mold is really not that much of an extension. It is quite flushed to the surface unlike the wheels arch extension of my wife's MINI which actually protrudes out nicely (see pic) Hence I really doubt that it will protect your wheel arch from that potential scratch during inadvertant scraping while backing out or pulling in. So what is the real benefit of this option ???

the cayenne photo is with the standard extensions that come with larger wheels. the Optional one ads a bit more plastic above the standard one. it does not protrude any further out but does ad painted door mouldings.
i had the same deliberation and deleted them

Thank you for that clarification Gaurang. If it does not protrude out anymore than what is the point in spending the extra $$ ? Can someone who has the extended wheel arch comment if they do protrude more or not ?

go to your dealer and have them build it on their system.. it shows you a much better picture than on the general public web configurator.. it adds a second layer of abs plastic but not further out.

On the '11 models, PAG should use the same polyurethane material painted in body color that's used on the GTS.
I see a large aftermarket industry making some nice aerokits for the 2011 Pepper.
