Best Radar Detector?

I still think V1 is the best because of the old arrows technology they have. Saved me many times. When that "arrows" patent runs out, I also think they will be in trouble with competition. It has been many years since V1 refreshed their software or hardware of the unit. Makes me wonder... think there should be technology improvements?
Interesting read in this weeks Barrons Magazine about the new Passport GPS detector. Great concept, but does not work well compared to old technology.

I agree with chipster..... K40 now and not K40 in the past there new RL360 and RL100 ( Portable ) are giving the Escort and V1 a real run for there money.
This is a pretty good comparison of the RL360 and the V1

Burning Brakes
This single you tube clip is being posted all over the web in every radar detector thread.
First, it is useless as a test. Second, is K40 behind this clip and dissemination of same?
It is all BS until you have head to head controlled testing of the K40 system sensitivity....

I realize that the Valentine 1 is the way to go for radar detectors, but my budget can't afford it. Any recommendations on a lower priced radar detector?
I'm planning a road trip from San Diego to Columbus, OH (via Interstate 40), returning via North Dakota (the only state I've never been in). I don't plan on high speeds, but would like to shave some time off (My typical guide line is 5 - 7 mph over the posted limits).
What are your thoughts?
