I'm on to XP build on this car now. Less weight and more power. I need more power for hill climbing class. Details to follow. I run same autocrosses as current XP national champion so should get some good data on cars competitiveness as I develop the car.

Working with Brad R.. 9a1 is much better platform for forced induction which I need for hill climbing. Something a little different from typical TPC application. 3.8 doesn't offer me power needed for hill climb events.. Im targeting 500 hp forced induction in 2350 lb car.
Looking at converting to gt3 Rs motor sports uprights and suspension bits to get better geometry as well.
Details to follow soon.

Going back to idea of keeping this FP. Starting to sort suspension, more seat time and car is moving OK now. Originally thought it wouldn't be competitive but now Im seeing glimmers of capability as a FP car.
Aside from doing headers, tune intake, IPD what can I do to improve power in my 9A1 motor? FP doesn't let me go to 3.8 motor or turbo. Im wondering if I could get 91a 3.4 to 375 HP? Cams, bump rpm to 8500 to use said cams , compression bump? then go to shorter 16 inch slicks to get better gearing for slow stuff. GT3's in PCA stuff still cream me on power delivery but as FP car most of those cars are momentum cars. Id still be heavier but with more power I think my Cayman could be an effective FP challenger. I also need a fast co-driver as I suck at getting fast runs in 3.

The Cayman in its current 3.4 trim is getting faster as I gain seat time and have more than 3 runs to get my driving right. Ran larger SF Bay Area PCA event and car by end was turning some decent times with other fast cars and drivers. Closer than ever to fast SSP/SSR GT3's. http://www.pca-ggr.org/wp-content/up...RAX09_Time.htm

SCCA SEB denied 981 and 781 from being included in FP. Good thing I asked. No 3.8 or Turbo ...Stuck with torque-less 3.4.
Im pulling AC and replacing all stock pulleys. That should free up a little power. I have got a ton of weight out of the car. Im down to 2450 lbs now and still have nearly 200 more I can get out . That will allow me to ballast the car to FP weights with great corner weights.
My first Nationals event the car was not sorted and weighed 2610 lbs with no ballast with awful corner weights. My class weight is 2580lbs. I can run the car as light as I want with PCA so its becoming a GT3 and 914 killer in AX.

not many people build dedicated AX cars from Cayman. I love seeing how low I can get a particular platform . I have spoken with shop in UK that got a 987 S down to 1900 lbs but that's a lot of work. Amazingly however that 1900 lb car had a full cage. I suspect over next couple years I will get my car under 2000 lbs.

I had time to pull a few more things off the car. Weighed at Tour event on first day and with quarter tank of fuel it was 2370 lbs so I'm easily below 2350 dry. Still have another 75 lbs of easy weight reduction so will be in 2275 lb range soon.
Picked up these control ERP arms as well. Should shave a few more lbs.
