Default Temp failure indicator alert

Hi all, I’ve just recently purchased my first 911, it’s a 997.1 turbo.
So I was on my way to work the other morning and about 2 miles from home.....
The engine temp gage was at approx half way between 100 and 175 and it suddenly went back to 100, the solid red light came on along with the computer saying “failure indicator”
The coolant tank was full. There are no leaks that I can see either.
Oil temp wasn’t up to running temp yet
so i went back home and got the wife’s car out to go to work.
One other strange thing that I noticed is that time on the clock had lost approx 5 hrs since the previous day, I know the time was right because I had reset it for daylight savings only the day before.
The car started fine that morning also
anyone have this problem? Any advice would be welcomed....
Many thanks. Edit

Sounds like you lost the input signal. Strange about the clock as well. How old is the battery? Do you have a battery maintainer? Possibly try charging it fully and see if the temp gauge failure persist.

thanks for the advice, not sure about the battery, I’ve got the service records at work I’ll dig them out tomorrow and have a look.

Cheers....

I'd check your alternator/battery/ground wiring/posts first. Failure indicator is a CAN BUS communication failure.

Thanks Kevin, i'll check those.
Used the car this morning, the same alarm came on and then went off again. Must be a connection somewhere that's acting up.

The clock has miraculously gone back to the correct time too.
