What can I say but "wow"!
My very first Porsche was delivered on Wednesday and before the car even arrived I had purchased a Cobb Accessport from Mitch Mckee and Tim Bailey @ Cobb Tuning.
Coming from the GTR market, I use the software almost everyday and I love how simple it is to flash your car. No laptop required other than transferring data to/from device. Simply plug into your car and go drive while datalogging.
Even a beginner to flashing an ECU will find the Accessport Programmer simple to use. It's really the ultimate bang for the buck as a Stage 1 type modification.
Last night, I strapped the car down on our local AWD DynoCom Dyno and worked with Mitch remotely (via email) on a custom tune. In less than an hour, I had increased HP output by almost 88whp!
Here are the results:
Bone Stock (457.9 whp/ 541 tq)
Stage 1 93 Octane Off The Shelf Map +41.8whp (499.7 whp/558.2 tq)
Stage 1 93 Octane Custom Tune by Mitch McKee +87.7whp (545.6 whp/604.4 tq)
I highly recommend the added cost of the Custom Tune, an additional 46whp was found over the Free Off The Shelf Stage 1 map. Money well spent!
Thanks again to Cobb Tuning for a 100% satisfied customer

i would want to know a couple of things:
what is the a/f ratio on each tune
what is the timing advancement on each tune
How much boost
i don't mind leaving 20 HP on the table if that means i'm running 12:1 af vs 14:1 at WOT of +22 degrees of timing. A dyno graph without the supporting information does not provide a complete picture. I've tuned plenty of cars on a dyno that made lots of power but i rather not push a car just to make a number vs making sure the power is safe and reliable.
I had a cobb street tuner on my STi. Good product. I tuned the methanol and a/f ratio. I prefer the stock ECU handle timing since it can pull timing when it sees knock.

I would like to see the logs so we can see the full picture. Timing, a/f, maf readings, etc. since you guys own the sumo, pretty sure you probably have good tools to log these runs to make sure the runs are safe for the street.
Thanks - Sid

Wow, how in the world does a custom tune double power gain over an off the shelf one on a stick car? Doesn't that signal that the the OTS tune is way conservative? Or am I missing something?

Not bad, great gains. My map is custom tuned by ESmotor. I had the OTS tune and then tried the custom tune and it was night and day. I even have an MS109 Map.
