Thought I'd throw out an update now that I've been with the EP2 exhaust for a few thousand miles and at least one long road trip.
Fantastic sound and although there is some drone, I am totally satisfied with the change from stock. The drone is not any louder than the road noise with a stock exhaust.

Lets face it, if you wanted to ride in silence we'd be on the Rolls Royce or Maybach forum. This is the Porsche forum and these cars should sound like a sports car... Now that I have the EP2, mine does.

I actually sent Steph an email to see if there is a cat bypass system available so the car would be louder (I assume it would be anyway), but I have not heard back from him. Does anybody know if there is something available, and what it would do to the sound?

Thanks,
Dan

A couple of yrs ago I came across a damaged ep2 (cats), gave it to a friend who gutted the cats, left the rest alone. Droned like mad, sounded like a garbage truck.

Well gents I had my EP2 mounted onto my 997.1 w/ protomotive turbo kit. In case anyone was wondering, the cats are so big that they don't clear the protomotive's wastegates. Lol I had custom straight pipes put on in lieu of the cats. The car is pretty loud if you're into that. It did take away from the character the europipe typically has, however, there was no difference in spool compared to the 3" USP exhaust I had on. I'm in search of some small 3" 100 cell cats that I will have put on though.

Drone isn't terrible though. It wasn't as noticeable as my USP exhaust either. The turbo spool noise is actually more prominent than the USP exhaust.

Thumbs up EP2

Tip. With GT2 hybrid turbos with 62mm compressor wheels there is zero drone - spoke to Stef and he confirmed they make the EP2 a less noisy/drone

Thanks! Too bad my brother cut the video short...the turbo whistle spooling down was still audible for a bit longer. That was also only 60% boost loading the engine in 2nd gear...the whistle can be louder! Love the sound

You have the EP2 as well?

I need to smog my car ASAP in California. Is there a CARB EO # for the EP2 or what other solutions/options are available? The first shop I tried immediately noticed and asked for the EO # or sticker.

I am aware of the two obvious solutions of (a) putting the OE system back on or (b) finding a place that 'won't notice' the aftermarket cats. Definitely will reach out to Europipe/Stef as well.

Try another shop...most can't tell the difference between the EP and the OE as they look similar to a non Porsche enthusiast.

Thanks man. That's what I was hoping with the EP - it looks closer to OE stock than any other system I've seen - but this dude was checking for the Porsche part numbers on the cats with his flashlight... And unfortunately the other local smog shop that I used for many years seems to be gone now.

Just joined the EP-2 club didn't spring for the $1,000.00 oem modified tips.
Best mod on my car, love driving with the windows down now even in the summer. Best sound in the 2-3000 rpm range under load.
Very slight drone but doesn't bother me maybe after 3 hour drive will change my mind... but nothing like the drone on brand X that started a war here.I had it on a 996TT it was horrible.
Stage 2 tune will be shopping for a clutch in the next few months, stock clutch having issues with the extra torque.

Thanks for all the positive comments and clips.

Please stay positive with your comments. I do construction work not video production.
Not just the exhaust note:
Turbo spool @ :54 and 1:45
Burbling noise @1:24
