WTB: TechArt exhaust tip or other options?
Earlier this week, I was driving from Las Vegas to L.A. There was some crazy weather happening. Extremely high desert winds kicked up a lot of dust and dirt. It also rained creating a type of mud shower. Very strange. During the drive at one point, a shiny flash caught my eye in the rear view mirror. I thought it was a soda can bouncing along. At the time, I thought it was strange to see this since I didn't see or hear my car drive over a can.
The next day, my car was a complete mess. A very fine dirt was caked on my car. As I started to wash my car, I noticed that one of my TechArt exhaust tips was missing. First thought was "WTF"! Then, I immediately thought of that "soda" can. Yeah right! That must have been my tip!
Now, I sort of feel like man with one ********. I'm embarrassed to drive my car out in public. I must get this fixed as soon as possible.
At closer examination, I notice that my exhaust tip didn't simply fall off. It appears to have broken off the stock exhaust pipe. The clamp that secures the tip on the pipe is still there. So, I guess over time, the "figure-eight" tip must have separated. If you ask me, this is probably a manufacturing defect since these pieces should be welded together.
I bought this car used less than two months ago and have no copy of invoice (from the previous owner) on the TechArt tips. So, no warranty support there.
Therefore, I'm now looking to buy a used LEFT TechArt tip for a 997.1TT. Or, possibly a pair of used ones.
I'm also thinking of getting an aftermarket exhaust system. I haven't read any negative feedback on the EP1. If I do get an EP1 (or another exhaust system), what concerns, if any, should I have regarding replacing my TechArt tips? Will the TechArt tips fit correctly with an EP1 system? I don't want to spend $900 on new tips and then come find out that it won't fit with EP1 or some other exhaust system.
Thanks for any help and sorry for the long drawn-out story.

"Stage 1 exhaust
reuses the stock ø 60mm oval tailpipes (tailpipes not included)
maximum backpressure: 0.18 Bar / 2.6 psi (stock exhaust: 0.44 Bar / 6.4 psi)
minimum + 18 hp / + 22 Nm
price: 3480 Euro + sales tax / 4525 USD"
If i was you i will just go for the stock tips and since your car is black i think this tips are good for you

Burning Brakes
As Leo stated the techart tips will work with an EP1 but not the EP2
If you can't find 1 replacement tip there are lots of options for dual tips out there in the $400-$800 range from black ceramic, to chrome, black chrome and gunmetal
Btw Did the sand storm marr the paint? Typically the kind of storm you described will sand blast and dull the clear coat finish, you'll notice it under direct lighting. Hopefully it's not too bad and a good detail, polish and wax will make it look brand new again
Good luck

Thanks for the diff between EP1 and EP2. That's good to know. I'm starting to look at other tip options. Like to stick with chrome since my rims have a chrome lip. The storm left a very fine powder on my car. So, don't think any sand effected the paint job. I washed the car and it still has a good shine. Does need a coat of wax to give it back that slippery feel.
I did give this a quick thought. But, it's too far to drive on the chance of trying to find it. Plus, the way I saw it bouncing, it's sure to be all scratched/dent up anyway.
