since this thread, i started driving my car to and from work, for 2 days.
The only downfall I see thus far is speeding. Going excess of triple digits to hear the motor roar.

My 7.1 is not a "daily" but it is my only car. (I live in NYC so it's subway or bike mostly unless I leave the city). I have however put 40k on the car in the 4 years I've owned it - 13k to 53k.
Unless I'm on an extended road trip (like to the Sebring 12hr straight 19hrs), and/or extremely tired (it's mostly just when I'm really tired) the car wears me out a bit... other than that I love every second of it!!
I grew up driving modified cars, so I suppose it's all in what you are used to. Life is too short to drive boring cars.

That is the gospel, sir, and my new signature line.
Really enjoying all the feedback here on what I didn't expect to be a lot of response. My problem, thus far, as someone pointed out above, is finding a GT3 to "test" in DD conditions. I must confess having driven another 991.1S over the weekend and have a PPI scheduled for Wednesday. I'd give anything for the right GT3 opportunity to slot in right now... First world problems.

I ummed and ahhed before buying my 7.2 GT3 mostly because I was worried about speed bumps and parking garages. I finally pulled the trigger on a low-mile (~13k) one that's been very well cared for and absolutely love it every time I get in it - I'm still in the honeymoon period, but I don't even mind sitting in traffic! The speed bump thing has turned out to not be as big of an issue as I thought it would and now my concern is the opposite: how do I NOT drive it every day, every where and put 20k miles on it every year?!?!
I'd say, if you can find the right car, just do it. If it ends up not being the right car for you, you'll be able to sell it for what you paid for it, so no harm no foul.

Ahh - I live in Los Angeles, and have DD'd my 7.1 for 7 years - on 56k miles.
Yeah - clutch sucks in stop and go, but you'll have a nice strong left leg.
I did upgrade to the RS 4.0 clutch, pulley, LWFW and the clutch is waaaay lighter to push.

I love my 2010 GT3 as a DD. I have a bit over 30K miles on it and it has been great.
I find the Axle Lift system is very helpful and probably should be on a DD need-to-have list. My dry cleaners, for example, had a funky drive way, that even with the lift, would take a bit of strategy to negotiate without hitting.
Not much worse than any manual shift car in stop and go, but when you can go, it is excellent. Life is too short to be in a boring car.

Used to DD my 996.2 and 997.2 GT3s. Always had a blast everywhere I went at any speed. It was fun to heal-toe in stiff dress shoes in a suit. It was practical with no kids. Had no front axel lift and changed the lip once/twice a year. Cheap, easy consumable.
I DD'd my 991.RS. It was boring AF to drive on the street. My wife drove it for 3hrs road trip herself and she said she forgot she wasn't driving the 7-series. However, 991.RS really shines brightly on a track.

My RS is one of my daily's. It was in circulation more when I was retired, but now with the shop, the truck is in higher rotation. It has over 14k miles on it and use it for all sorts of errands. It's fine to use for daily life. It's part of the reason I bought the car, to use it all the time instead of the 4.0.

I actually retired 3 years later than my original goal. A divorce 16 years ago will do that.

My commute in S Florida is 10 miles in DD all and it's no big deal.
Only annoyance it a traffic jam. But suspension, seat and noise wise it's fine for me.
I don't daily it always otherwise I run out of warranty miles before warranty time..
