Usually, when a clutch is as heavy as this, its time to change clutch plates. But I am the second owner of my RS and its been like this since Ive owned it.
I have had my RS since new and one of the many many things I love about the car is the clutch. It is part of the character that makes it so magical.

It's heavy. But it works.
Makes me feel like my 964 is broken.

I agree. The clutch for a manual guy makes it a special car. I am just curious what made the porsche engineers make it heavy. I am sure there is a reason for it as I dont think it is just coincidence that they made it this way. Or is it?

After driving my RS, then going back to my 997 Turbo, I feel the turbos clutch is one of the best clutch ever made. It is because its like Ive done some leg weights then removed making the turbos very easy to drive.

I think there is something wrong with your clutch, I have skinny legs and have no problem daily driving my 7GT2.

I run the 890NM PP with LWFW and 4.0RS disc, it is firm to press down and on release but it has loads of feel, if I get into my 993tt (with hydraulic 890NM clutch) I nearly shove the pedal through the floor as it is so light and it is harder to modulate as the feel is not there.

As has been mentioned on here I would get a good shop to go through the whole system and upgrade to the 4.0RS parts, it could make a big difference.

I'm running the heavy duty 487 Sachs Motorsport version of the OEM 4.0 Pressure plate along with a 4.0 disc and LWFW. Even though this is the strongest pressure plate Sachs produces, it feels perfect to me, heavy and firm but nothing I'd call unacceptable.

Default 997.1 switched clutch to 4.0

Wow - had all stock on my 997.1 - very heavy clutch from beginning that had worn out from heavy L.A. city driving.

Switched to a 4.0 clutch and LWFW, and a Guards LSD as mine was kaput.

The new clutch is so much lighter - maybe half the force required of the stock - very easy.

The LWFW rattles at idle, which is normal, but should be OK of the .1 GT3s

Clutch "feel" has much to do with the bore size of the hydraulic pedal, much like correctly bore sizing the master cylinder on manual brakes. GT3's are sized as such to be mashed at track speeds and under stress, not for day to day street driving. Non GT cars, such as the 997 Turbo, had a hydraulic assisted (boosted) pedal, hence those are much lighter. BBI makes a conversion from the hydraulic assisted pedal to a more GT like pedal. If BBI can make the transition from non GT clutch to GT style, maybe they can retrofit the inverse for you and make a hydraulic assisted clutch pedal for your GT3.

I have driven a GT4 on the track and I do like the clutch pedal on it. It's heavier than a hydraulic assisted pedal, but softer than a 997.2 GT3. It's a great hybrid of the 2, and I personally liked it. I didn't see any disadvantages on the track and very tolerable on the street. Maybe BBI can make a GT4 like clutch pedal for the .2 platform?? That would be AWESOME!

Thanks for input, what does LWFW stand for. Thanks!

LWFW - light weight fly wheel

The clutch feels heavy in the beginning, but you get used to it, all other cars feel soft afterwards. The clutch and the shifter are perfectly matched.
