Default 997 GT2 Coolant hose failure

I just picked up my 2008 GT2

I had a 996 GT3 before and experienced a coolant line failure while at Sebring. (Wild ride...) I've gone through the coolant line registry on this forum and didn't notice many 997 GT cars with this issue. Has anyone out there experienced this with their 997 GT2? Is this something that I should take care of preventatively or is it very uncommon in the 997 cars? Thanks

Coolant hose, or the coolant fittings? The glued fitting failure is very common on 997s.

GT2 has the same coolant pipe fitting arrangement as 997.1TT. Sorry to be the bearer of bad new but yes we have seen the coolant pipe fitting epoxy fail on 997.1TT cars.

The most common on 997.1TT that we've seen is at this pipe fitting.
The good news is usually this fitting won't come out completely because the plastic bracket keeps some pressure on the aluminum pipe. In which case the coolant won't gush out. Just keep smelling coolant in engine compartment and keep having to top off coolant tank.

The pipe fitting without the plastic bracket.

Talk to Vincent at Gulf Performance in Pompano Beach for the welding mod.
