Help me choose - 2010 or 2011 997.2?
Thanks to all the great posts on this forum, figured out the car I wanted - 997.2 base model coupe with PDK, ideally CPO, and after a few months of searching, a couple are available. Both are optioned very similarly, with the same color combo.
2010, 49k miles, 5 months of CPO, $43k, private sale.
-Drove the car, very tight and clean. Well maintained. PDK replaced under CPO warranty. Tires/brakes have 3k miles on them. 50k service completed. Not done PPI yet. Owner has a loan with Porsche, has agreed to payoff loan once I give him a deposit, he gets a clean title (1-2 weeks), then I pay him the full amount.
2011, 48k miles, $50k, 2 year CPO from dealer.
PPI done at indy shop, came out very clean - the tech recommended that I should buy this one - shows only 15 instances of being within 500 revs of redline. All services are up to date.
I'm leaning towards the 2011 CPO - 1 year newer, more CPO warranty, less risk/hassle than private sale - but curious what other folks think.

Keep leaning and you'll make the right decision and buy the 2011. The 19 mos. of extra CPO warranty are worth something (probably not $7k, I recognize). And the one year newer may be helpful on resale.
I would also consider which of the two stirs your soul more (colors, options, interior, gearbox, etc.) and go with that one.

It sounds like either one would be a great choice.
Are they both PDK, if not, which do you want. I like a manual but i'm part of the dwindling majority.
Over revs aren't a concern with PDK. Does the PDK have sport Chrono? You'll want that if you plan on driving spirited. Similar options?

Depends on options. Get as much leather as you can 'cause that soft paint is junk. XM radio cannot be added if not included (at least not easily). Auto-dim mirrors cannot be added. Some of that you may not care about, but good to know going into it.
Either way - sounds like you have some good choices there - without knowing more details about the cars, I'd go for the newer car with more CPO. Mileage and price aren't a big enough delta to matter.

I would go for the 2011 as well, but IMO the asking price of 50k is a bit high considering the miles.
I paid $52,500 for a 2011 C2 in June of this year with 18k miles and 2 years of CPO from my date of purchase, so I think you should be able to negotiate a few thousand off the asking price.
Good luck with your purchase, regardless of which one you end up with you will be VERY happy. The 997.2 is absolutely fantastic.
