Default 997.2 GT3 front bumper install on 997.1 C4S

I just bought a used OEM GT3 bumper. It has some damage (mostly on the underside), but my bodyshop says it is repairable. So, the plan is to install it on my 997.1 C4s.

I have a couple questions...
  • Ill need the 997.2 DRLs. Will any 997.2 ones work, or are there specific GT3 lights?
  • Is there an adapter to connect these lights, or a kit? And if so, where can I buy it?

Thanks!

you'll need the

- 997.2 drls - same across the 997.2
- to connect the LEDs you will need either the FVD converter (~500$) OR the oem cable looms and make the splicing yourself (4 cables i beleive - pretty simple)
- you will need the grills that support the LED's as well, as well as the centre retaining bracket for them middle section. these *should* be the same across all 997.2 but i have heard otherwise so you will need to check
- I'm pretty sure you will need all new radiator ducting (front and 2 sides - 3 plastic pieces) i don't think the standard 997.2 rad shrouds will work here, and
you will need the underside scoop of the front bumper nose cutout
- finally you will need the 997.2/991 headlight washer nozzles

i think i covered everything.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. That is exactly what I needed to know.

If anyone else can confirm that you can splice the 997.2 led cables easily into a 997.1 car, that would be great.

You need this kit minus the bumper.

Holy-

Well, I was thinking about picking up a slightly FUBAR 997.2 GT3 bumper cover myself, but after seeing the cost to complete the retrofit plus paint ...

Yeah, the complete job is pricey. I got the bumper itself for dirt cheap, so I couldnt pass it up. But, the entire job is definitely more than I originally estimated.

I am hoping when Im done with everything, it will look something like this GT3 RS (minus the rear spoiler and bumper)

Is there any place to get the fender flares cheaper than Suncoast? $1200 for four pieces of plastic just doesnt make any sense to me

i just looked at the kit and the pics of the gt3 front bumper. the grills look different meaning that the led mounting bracket is a totally different part. that kit will likely not work. the rad ducts likely wont fit either as i know someone with a 997.2 that did hte conversion and supposedly had to change all the rad ducting on the inside.

to the OP, i would goto porsche parts and get a parts diagram and work from there, or maybe call suncoast if they have done a 997.1 -> 997.2 gt3 front bumper conversion.

i will pm you the part number for the cable looms. i need to to pick up a pair myself.

GT3 front bumper guts...radiator and so forth is very differ than our Carrera based cars.

Those top vents on the cover are there for a reason...and the GT3 radiator is slanted plus the cooling fans and fender wells are vented differently. This is all done to provide front downforce.

I've done this conversion, and mdrums and myw are spot on. you will need every bit of plastic, including new front wheel well liners, radiator and mount, air ducting for side and center radiators, and grills. gets VERY pricey. as far as wiring goes, save yourself the headache, just get the FVD cable.

...or you can just skip all that hassle and sell the bumper to me.

just kidding, good luck on the conversion. It is well worth it. You will fall in love with your car all over again.
