Well it took all of 15 minutes to install and works perfectly.
Definitely a 10 out 10 product.

Yes, it's a great option and sadly one of those things that should have been included in the car from the git-go--but not for litigious America...

Anyone know if there is a RL Forum discount for SmartTop? I think I'm pretty much sold on getting this, but it will make me feel better not paying FULL price ...

I believe there used to be one back when I got mine, but it's been several years. Perhaps you can monitor the 991 forum as well because the newest owners may be more inspired to get a group buy going.

Thanks Edgy.... after speaking to my brother who installed this on his .1 C4S Cab, I convinced myself that this is (yet another) critical mod for me and pulled the trigger on one for my .2 C4S Cab

For what it's worth, if it helps anyone else to add to their set up I did find a discount code for 5% off on the mods4cars website (the code is M4CBLOG). It ain't much, but saving $21.95 is better than a sharp stick in the eye!

Yup, agreed 100%. Mine arrived earlier this week and I installed it this morning. Other than taking about 15 min to find the right driver for my Mac and some fiddling with the USB cable to do my set up, the overall installation was simple (it was actually quicker to install than to hook up to my Mac for the settings!).

After installing it I gave it a few trial runs and it works perfectly. I love the 1-touch operation instead of holding the switch down, as well as the fact that I can now remotely operate the top up/down from the OEM key. I actually made my wife come down to the garage and watch me remotely open the top, to which of course she gave me her "seriously?" look (the same one I got when I made her listen to my Fabspeed Sport Headers & Cats and PSE install ).

RDIMA,

I bought mine 10 days ago, and the listed price on the Mods4Cars website was $439 for the 997.2 module. So the 5% off price went down to $417.05, and with $12 shipping my final invoice was $429.05. I know that resellers like Bumper Plugs also sell them, but I didn't shop it around so there are likely better prices than what I paid

I never really got why anyone thought this was that handy but at $400!! seems crazy just to be able to put your top down remotely. Is it that much of a challenge just to hold the button down while you are in the car? And I cant stand cars that "chirp" when they lock/unlock. I would pay to have that function removed

I think Vern just gave me another "Seriously?" look for having solved another one of my First World Problems ... that's my second one in 2 days after my wife was equally unimpressed when I made her watch me open the top with my key yesterday after I installed it
