Default 32k Miles still have cosmoline smell?

Hi guys I've read past posts about the Porsche smell cause of the cosmoline they put on to protect the underside of the engine. My question to you is after 32k miles and 4 years later is this this what I'm smelling after driving for awhile? The smell is like a light burning smell.

Porsche perfume, very common with the 996 owners crowd. Not as strong as my 79SC smelled, but that was air-cooled.

I have it too with my 06. I suppose if you put it on a rack and give it a good cleaning everywhere, it will go away but if you smell it you still got it and it is supposed to provide some protection, so I am leaving it alone.

I have 60K miles and still smell it. That said, I have noticed plenty of road tar kicked up onto my mufflers and I suspect that may be the primary cause of the smell. Those puppies get awfully hot and are positioned perfectly to collect oily road grime.

Ok figured that was what it was, just wasn't sure if that smell was supposed to go away after x amount of miles and I was smelling something else.

I guess I'd miss it if it went away.

I've noticed this as well (14K miles). It's OK - makes me think I've got a new car.
