Tires 305/30ZR/19. Vs. 295/30ZR/19
Need some new rear tires for my 2005 CS2 Cab. The 305's are much more expensive than the 295's. I know 305's are about 1/2 inch wider threds. Is there a visible big difference. Currently I have 305's in the rear. Don't want to spend the extra bucks if I don't have too

I think it depends on your rims.

you just need to look at outside diameters for front/rear tires to be close to what 997 car wants. in most brands you have those diameter ratio correct in 245/305 or in 235/285(295) sizes.

I went from 295 to 305 and you can barely notice the difference visibly. As for handling, I noticed the slightest bit of under steer when I first started driving but soon became numb to the changes in handling after a few days. Hope that helps

Depending on the brand and model of tire you choose, the 295 may actually be larger than the 305.
For example, the Michelin PS2 run really large while the Hankook V12 run small. Not that you are looking for either of these but you get the point.

I don't think you will see the difference. I put 245.35.19s and 305.30.19s on my 09 C2S and it was hard to visually see a difference in the rears. The main reason I switched was the new 8.5/11.5 wheels I put on the car.
You should try to stay with the same brand and model tire.

Is there a reason for using 305´s on 11 inch rims on a stock 996tt?
Most discussion I´ve read about 295 vs 305 have been regarding to the "look" rather than performance, handling, wear etc.
My own experience is using stock is always best, but I have little practical experience with tires.

Tires always have a range of wheel widths that they're good for. If you look on tirerack, they have the specs for all tires. Traction tends to be better if the tire has a slight trapezoidal form on the wheel, so going too wide can be detrimental. Lobster claws are 11s, no? So they would have a stock size of 295s. If your concern is looks, get some spacers.

Changing to different sizes will also affect the overall diameter of the tire:
1. 295/30/19 = 25.97"
2. 305/30/19 = 26.21"
3. 315/30/19 = 26.44"
Something to keep in mind.
